Add or remove cascaded storage groups

Storage groups are a collection of devices that are stored on the storage system. An application, a server, or a collection of servers use them.

This procedure explains how to add or remove child storage groups from parent storage groups.

Before you begin:

To add or remove cascaded storage groups:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Storage > Storage Groups to open the Storage Group list view.
  3. Select the parent storage group and click An icon showing the letter i, signifying information to open its Details view.
  4. Click the number next to Storage Groups to open the child Storage Groups list view.
  5. Do the following, depending on whether you are adding or removing storage groups:
    • Adding storage groups:
      1. Click Add .
      2. Select one or more storage groups.
      3. Do one of the following:
        1. Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
        2. Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
    • Removing storage groups:
      1. Select one or more storage groups and click Remove.
      2. Click OK.
